Flower Basket Twist & Pop card

     Hello and welcome! Today I re-created the fun-fold card I made for my OnStage display board and swaps. This card looks deceivingly complicated, but it's pretty easy to make...and fun too! The step-by-step tutorial video is at the end of this post. Let's get started.

You will need:

• a piece of vellum (10" x 3")
• Basket panel: Whisper White cardstock (10" x 2"), run it through your Big Shot with the Basket Weave embossing folder. (I'm so happy this embossing folder carried over to the new catalogue!) Sponge this piece using Early Espresso and Black inks.
• Mechanism piece: Whisper White cardstock (7" x 2 3/4"). Score following the diagram below.

• Flowers using the Four Petal Punch and Garden Impressions DSP. Leaves for the flowers are created using the same punch and shades of green cardstock, then cut in half. Center of flower from Jar of Love stamped in black, then sequins added in the middle. I used 10 flowers for the inside of the card and one for the card front.
• Cut out bees from Dragonfly Dreams, covered in Wink of Stella. I used two for the inside and one for the card front. 
• Powder Pink and Daffodil Delight ink pads for creating the front background using the dots from Dragonfly Dreams stamp set. Sentiment is also from this set.
• Gold ribbon to wrap around another basket weave panel for the card front.

Animal Outing

I simply do not know why it's taken me so long to finally play with this adorable stamp set, Animal Outing! I had gotten this at OnStage in April and only got to play with it now! (gasp!) I have no excuse...but thankfully I finally got around to play with it and make a project with it! Here's what I came up with.

I made these two very similar simple cards. I wanted a 'jungle' look, and the only leaves that I had that would work were the ones from Rooted in Nature (love this set!). I stamped my leaves randomly on a piece of Pool Party cardstock using Old Olive and Lemon Lime Twist. I also lightly sponged along the edges in Old Olive. 

On a scrap piece of Whisper White cardstock, I stamped my animals and coloured them in with my markers. These were then cut out and then glued down onto my Soft Sky background piece. I also stamped some spare leaves, cut them out, then stuck these onto my Soft sky piece using mini-dimensionals. 

My sentiment is from Dragonfly Dreams, and I silver heat-embossed this on a strip of Night of Navy cardstock. For embellishment I just wrapped some silver baker's twine around my layering piece before adding my sentiment on top using more dimensionals. Then I just adhered this on top of my Very Vanilla card base. Of course I needed some sparkle, so I covered my dimensional leaves with some Wink of Stella.

Falling Flowers GDP#128

     It's Sunday and it's time for another Global Design Project challenge! This week it is a CASE the Designer challenge, and we have a beautiful card designed by Steffi Helmschrott as the  basis of our project. If you don't know what GDP is, just click on the link and embark on a creative adventure every week...you'll be amazed and inspired by the creativity of talented people from all over the world!

     What a beautiful card to CASE, right?! So for my card I decided to stick with the floral theme and bring out my Falling Flowers stamp set. It's been a while since I've used this set and the coordinating May Flowers Framelits dies, and this project just rekindled my love for this set. 

     I started by stamping my images with my Basic Black ink pad on a piece of vellum. I then poured clear embossing powder over my images and heat-set them. (If you're quick, you can heat emboss using any ink pad and not just Versamark.) Next is just coloring all my images, and for this I just used my watercolor pens. I tried using my alcohol markers first, but the colors were just not vibrant enough on the vellum, and so I switched markers.

     After all my images were colored in, I proceeded with die-cutting them using my Big Shot and the coordinating dies. I also die-cut a circle on a piece of Whisper White cardstock using my Stitched Shapes Framelits dies (I used the biggest circle die). This will be the base of my flower bunch. 

     To make it easier for myself, I stuck a bunch of double-sided tape onto my circle piece so that I can just keep arranging and sticking my pieces onto my circle without the fuss of gluing. This made the process quicker and so much easier. For my sentiment I used a stamp from the Dragonfly Dreams stamp set and white heat-embossed this on a piece of Basic Black cardstock. After trimming my sentiment piece, I just added it onto my circle piece.

     For my card base I used a piece of Thick Whisper White cardstock cut at 7 1/2 x 9". I put a piece of silver ribbon onto my card base first before adhering my circle piece at the right bottom corner using dimensionals. Finally I just added a few rhinestone jewels all over the card to finish it off.

Dragonfly Spotlight

     Hello and welcome! Today's card project features Dragonfly Dreams and Butterfly Basics stamp sets...both just absolutely lovely. To add a little bit of pizzazz to my card, I used the spotlight technique. This is a super easy way to add appeal to any project.

     Today's card is also my entry for this week's Global Design Project 126 which is a sketch challenge. Here is the layout that we are following for this week's challenge.

     So on to my card...I used Very Vanilla as my card base (A2 size). I used a piece of Island Indigo and Gold Foil sheet for my layering pieces, and again a piece of Very Vanilla for my art piece (3 3/4 x 5").  I started by stamping my dragonfly using my Basic Black ink pad and then clear heat embossing it afterwards, to make it easier to colour later on. I then moved on to stamping my branches of leaves off to the right edge using Old Olive and Basic Black ink pads. This was followed by stamping my sentiment...making sure it'll fit into my oval.

     Once all my stamping is done, I moved on to colouring my dragonfly. I then used my Wink of Stella to give the wings a bit of sparkle, before covering the wings with my Fine Tip glue pen to give it a glossy finish. While letting the glue dry, I cut out my bigger oval out of my Island Indigo cardstock, and then a smaller oval onto my art piece (once the glue was dry).

     To put my card together, I started with layering my ovals first, then layering my art piece onto the gold and Island Indigo pieces. Before adhering my cut-out ovals, I attached my ribbon which I coloured to match my Island Indigo pieces, and wrapped this around all my layering pieces. Finally it was just a matter of lining up my cut-out ovals and adhering it onto my card.
