Happy New Year!!!

Hello and welcome to my brand-spanking new blog!

As another year comes to an end and we start ringing in the new year, I thought I would get a head-start on one of my goals for 2018: to start blogging. I have wanted to do so for a long time, but I've always been intimidated by the fact that I do not know the first thing about creating a blog! But then I thought to myself that it's just another learning curve and what better time to start learning than here I am! Now it is still a work in progress so please bear with me. I'm still figuring out how to do stuff...binge-watching all the YouTube tutorials I can find ;)

Now for my first project, I wanted to create a card for the New Year...just because I've never done one before. So I rummaged through my stamp collection for ideas...lo and behold I didn't find any appropriate stamp sets! What a good start eh?! Anyway after much deliberation, I finally came up with this simple card.
In my mind I envisioned a nighttime sky that's alight with fireworks...this just brings me back to memories of home. By the way, have you guys seen what New Year's Eve is like in the Philippines?!? We take New Year's eve very seriously, you know. The whole country just erupts in fireworks...everybody celebrates and participates. Tons of food, booze and fireworks...what could go wrong!?!? Nothing can really compare to a New Year's celebration back at home...I sure miss it! Here's a video of how crazy it is.

Anyway going back to my card...I used my Star of Light stamp set for the fireworks, and gold heat-embossed it. For my background I used an ink blending tool and sponge daubers to achieve the night sky look. The 'Hello' is from the previous Sale-a-bration stamp set, Any Occasions. And finally my numbers are cut out in gold foil by my Cricut since I do not own the Large Numbers framelits die. For a video tutorial on how I made my card, just click on my YouTube link below.

Well, that is all for today crafters! I wish everyone a very happy and blessed New Year! Cheers to another year full of adventures and creative shenanigans!!! :)
